The roots of Hillsley Art began when I was growing up in Michigan. My passion for patterns and designs played out in drawing elaborate plants and flowers that my cousin and I lovingly referred to as "Moon Flowers".
I casually played with my techniques over the years as I pursued my love of teaching and education. Then, my life took an abrupt left turn with the passing of my long time partner and husband. As I began the bumpy journey through grief and the redesign of my life I clung to my art as my path through the storm. My life-long love of intricate patterns and designs led to my current art form and served as a gateway for the release of all the feelings and emotions that flooded my mind.
I designed a series of abstract water color paintings representing my journey and then decided to customize them for a close friend who was going down a similar path. That's when I realized that my work could serve as a source of comfort and expression for others.
It has been a little over eight years now since my life took that left turn and I am delighted to be able to offer some comfort and support for others as we all travel through the challenges and celebrations of life.
